Recommended by the NHS and private healthcare practitioners, Prenatal yoga is increasingly popular as women look to stay fit, improve their mental and physical strength and flexibility and prepare for labour.
I offer a safe, holistic approach, meeting the needs of the client. My approach incorporates birthing positions, movement to relieve aches and pains as pregnancy progresses, strengthening and stretching to prepare the body for labour, breathwork and pelvic floor exercises. I can’t stress the importance of breathwork enough. During pregnancy breathwork is used to calm the nervous system therefore relaxing the mind and body. During birth, focusing on breathwork helps you to remain calm and listen to your body’s needs. Calmness, focus and clarity.
As a Yoga Teacher and Doula, I believe, and I have witnessed first hand how yoga is a fantastic way not only to prepare your body for birth but also helps relieve possible anxiety and depression which may be heightened by significant hormonal changes during pregnancy. You are not alone with this, I support pregnant women to connect with their changing bodies in a safe nurturing space.
I work 1:1 or in small groups with those who have a regular yoga practice and want to continue to practice throughout pregnancy and those who have never set foot on a yoga mat. I aim to make yoga accessible to every-body.
I am trauma informed. I often work with those pre and postnatally who are in recovery with eating disorders, addiction, grief & mental health diagnosis.
